i try with my daughter

i love her to death.. however
she argues with me over every little thing
she argues with me if i want to take her out to dinner
she argues with me if the menu doesnt suit her
i always said she should be a lawyer.
but she is deaf..
doesnt mean she shouldnt be a lawyer
if we agree on politics, she will take the other road
if we agree on what is important in life,
she will disagree
she is just like me when i was 15
but she is 27
then again i didnt make sense at that age
at 27 i was very differnt

my speakers are broken.. iguess

i woke up this morning to this weird noise coming from nowhere.. it was one of those "deep" noises that you cant really figure out where they are coming from for they permeate the house. as i decended the stairs, it became louder, but still not giving an exact location. it was thuddd thhhhudd tttthuudddd kind of noise. what does one make of that early in the morning for heavens sake.
it was the computer speakers. i cant be bothered to figure out why the speakers decided to thump thump thump..
i guess they are shot and i am not going to spend money on new ones... i am waitng for this computer to die before i spend any money.
so dont send me any sound thingys

to further my explantion.. my new desk is BIG. crawling behind to find cords going to this and that is impossible unless you are a really big man and like to move things.

what ever works!

Gawker - Couple Rescued After Sex Doll Rafting Mishap
An Australian couple were rescued from Melbourne's flooded Yarra River today after hitting a rough patch of water during their inflatable sex doll rafting trip. Afterward, police issued a reminder that latex sex dolls are "not recognised flotation devices."

'it really doesn't work'

a science educational moment
Pfizer scientists had a "headdesk" moment in October, when German researchers showed that an antidepressant the company markets in Europe doesn't work in humans, even though animal model data showed it to be effective, Scientific American guest blogger SciCurious wrote in November. A meta-analysis published in the British Medical Journal shows that the antidepressant reboxetine — which is not sold in the US, but is marketed in Europe as Edronax, Norebox, Prolift, Solvex, Davedax or Vestra — "really doesn't work," SciCurious says. The publication of this paper was a rough moment" for scientists working on treatments for depression, she added, because reboxetine "worked beautifully in our animal models." So the issue now shifts from why the medication doesn't work to what's wrong with our animal models. "What's not being dealt with as well is an underlying scientific problem," says Derek Lowe at In the Pipeline." SciCurious' query as to "What went wrong?" is "a very good question, and one without any very good answers," Lowe adds. As "this certainly isn't the first CNS [central nervous system] drug to show animal model efficacy but do little good in people," Lowe asks: "Are we getting anywhere, or just doing the same old thing?"
Conclusions Reboxetine is, overall, an ineffective and potentially harmful antidepressant. Published evidence is affected by publication bias, underlining the urgent need for mandatory publication of trial data.
ok, now what?

oh good grief (again)

this article starts out great
in fact, as i read it, i thought spot on... what the hell is going on? i do not consider china an ally - one with whom to share secrets
and then, in the second to last paragraph, the author goes somewhere that has nowt to do with his subject, and shows him to be the arse he is.

fighting words

at long last someone has said it (well ok the first time i read it) bite me
It’s my turn now. I am not going to scream back. But I refuse to allow anyone to dictate what I say or how I say it. I refuse to allow the same foul-mouthed, foul-spirited foul people who dumped on me to now try to tell me what I may or may not say.

recent events have left me dismayed, disgusted but not dis-illusioned. there is a lot of anger out there, and the more anger i see, the sadder i become. it leaves me feeling hopeless and small. and while petty people in this country are looking to mis-place blame for the actions of a madman, floods of biblical porportion are swallowing queensland, australia. again i feel hopeless and small.
so being small and heartless, i picked up my fiddle and went to the movies.
saw true grit - excellent film (i wasn't expecting much) with many laugh out loud moments. i also saw the kings speech. brilliant film, great acting, i cried and applauded. not being a film critic, i will just say i highly recommend both films.

i will post again when i am not feeling so small and hopeless.

great health and every good blessing to you

here's tae the heath, the hill and the heather,
the bonnet, the plaid, the kilt and the feather

may the Lord keep you in His hand, and never close His fist too tight on you!

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

many blessings i pray for each and everyone of you and yours.
