as black history month comes to a close, perhaps some bit of truth about the democrat party needs to be provoked.

the 'bamacare burlesque
i only watched bits and snippets from what has been posted on the net. obama is an arrogant bully and paul ryan (and the other republicans) displayed a politeness i could never have done - but then i am a hotheaded redhead.
i believe what is needed is health care insurance reform, not reform of our health care. we have the best in the world. IF we must have insurance (oh to be rich enough to be able to pay cash instead) then i think it should not be employer based. giving discounts to employers is a sham. if the insurance companies were allowed to compete across state lines, then the competition would drive premium prices and discounts. of course that would probably mean takeovers etc, dwindling the competition and raising prices. perhaps health insurance should be mandatory not-for- profit organisations. it would also eliminate the portability and pre-existing condition problems currently hobbling all of us. utilisation review should be done by nurses and doctors, not corporation management only looking at a bottom line. the only reason i could see a federal role in the health care insurance business would be to protect patients from nonsensical arbitrary decisions, ie, giving birth should be treated as an outpatient procedure. doctors and patients who commit fraud should be prosecuted severely.
then there is tort reform. the cost of malpractice is out of control. why should people (the jury of our peers) be the ones to decide how much a wrong is worth - or even if a wrong was done. what does the average person on the street know about anatomy and the workings of the human body? there should be no lawyers involved in health care decisions. i am sure that a governing body of physicians and lay people who understand the fundamentals of health could solve any grievances (ok, so i am miss pollyanna).
these thoughts are off my chest.

the truth about islam - col allen west
this is an extraordinary and truthful response on how to deal with muslim terriorists.
lt. col. allen west
i wish maryland had one of these running for congress
h/t five feet of fury
At a hearing, West was asked by his defense attorney if he would do it again. "If it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can," he said. (from wikipedia)

the college marxist
a very interesting interview is on this link. it is quite long but well worth a listen.
obama's black hole
thanks to crusader rabbit
This story isn't new. The mainstream media including Fox News ignored the story. Dr. John C. Drew claims he was a Marxist as well when he enrolled in college himself.

canada
i have had two trips to canada...the first one was at some festival where we snuck people in the trunk.. but that is another story
my little tale is my second trip.. a business trip
i have never felt so welcome, but then again i never knew i was so welcome for their friendlyness was so natural. then i arrived home. i collected my car from the lot and proceeded to pay at the terminal (long before pay as you go) and as i was so used to canadian friendlyness i said hello how are you.. i was greeted with a grunt and you owe this much. not a smile not a hello. so then i said welcome to america .. the land of the grunts. she took my money and that was it.
canada will always be for me the land of friendly folk,
let the olympic games begin!

the result of tolerance
paco has a link (click on the title) on the effect of tolerance in britain, a country that embraced the motto of 'live and let live". bet they didn't mean to bite them in arse.

travels of my daughter, melbourne australia
my daughter is currently dillydallying (her word) in melbourne. she said there are too many brits! and it reminds her of hawaii and california - very americanised with a target store! she also reminded me of a dream she had in october about meeting friends at an amusement park. what actually happened the other day she got on a train to go meet them at a beach and there was an amusement park when she got off the train. her affirmation she is where she should be!
she travelled down the great victoria road to see the 12 apostles (nee the sow and piglets) - absolutely spectacular
next on her agenda is sydney, byron bay, surfers paradise, noosa, frasier lsland, whitsunday islands, airlie beach, port douglas, cairns
correction: its the great ocean road, IN victoria... my bad (thanks cj)

snow blogging
well! my steps and walkway are clear, my parking area around the car is clear, although there still remains a couple of feet of snow on the car itself. i will take care of that tomorrow. the snow plows are currently having a great time clearing off 3 feet of snow from the roadway in the court.
also tomorrow i will make a path to the laurel tree in the backyard (i am hoping to be assisted by a bit of sunshine) and bang all the snow off it's branches. i will know then if it survived the heavy snow.
in the meantime, i have decreed cocktail time and a little music for the weather. slainte!
the fun starts at the 2.47 mark

another global warming update
i could not open the front door (the storm door swings out) so i decided to go out the back door, dig the snow UP the stairs, press through bum-high drifts around two other townhouses to get to the front of my house. Once there, i dug UP more stairs to free my front door.
late last night (and i mean late!) i watched people clearing their stairs, walks and cars. i thought i would wait until morning. as i was pushing my way through the cold stuff this morning, i pondered the wisdom of my decision. when i reached the front of the row of houses, i noticed that their efforts were pretty much hidden underneath as much snow as i have. i do believe the weatherman (and yes he was a man) said that we will be getting 1" an hour. he was right. and we have the wind to create drifts.
tis really rather lovely to see, but i am afraid the laurel tree in the back yard will not survive this blizzard
