i think like him but he says it better

will and kate

now for an update

evidently minicapt thinks the royal family has enough stuff to ward off the invasion of canada from the usa.
he puts forth this

the brave windsors

after all these years, this lovely loving couple are married. i wish them the best.
i will not compare them to his parents marriage for it is vastly different. william is self assured, and the same with Catherine. after an 8 year courtship she has faced the worst of the worst and always held her dignity. i wish them all the happiness in the world.

what has fascinated me, however are all the comments on various websites. the brits are somewhat evenly divided.. however they dont like pay the taxes for it.. cant blame them, but Catherine and Williams parents are paying for most of it.. i guess the security is coming from the taxpayers. oh well.
but what i have noticed on the american side, the men, generally (generally but not all i am sure) are rather hostile - while the american women are fascinated. i am not surprised by the women's reactions, after all women are more sentimental, but i am surprised by the absolute hostility by the men.
reasons being - we fought to get rid of a monarchy (ok that was 200 years ago), we saved your brit asses in two world wars (hasnt that made us a closer ally)
anyway, i am happy for the new duke and duchess of cambridge. notice she is an HRH but not a princess.

i have been thinking again

where does the US get its oil
look at all that "aid" we are giving to well over 100 countries because we buy their oil. especially Canada. i would advocate invading Canada but their culture is too close to ours, so there wouldn't be that all important diversity each nation should look for when creating imperialistic empires. albeit they do have all that frozen tundra where we could relocate those cowards in gitmo. i am sure sheriff joe could use the extra space for his "house guests" as well. they all have it too damn easy lolligagging in tropical climes better suited for law abiding peace loving paying tourists.
it does concern me that if we start drilling our own oil, the other 100+ nations that depend on our dollars might start asking us for money without giving anything in exchange. Thus we would be creating welfare states, and i think we have too much welfare in the world already. look what it has done to the tiny island of (Great) Britain. sheesh, multiply that times the world? boggles the brain.

have a blessed and glorious easter

John 20:11-18
11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." 14 Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." 16 Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rab-bo'ni!" (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." 18 Mary Mag'dalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

what was will never be again

my daughter and i are on a quest
a black and white stripe fabric for her window and closet. one would think it would be easy - black and white stripe
LMAO
our quest took us to one of my favourite fabric stores, where one could find everything and anything. G street fabrics
on rockville pike in the same location for eons. i always could count on them for anything beyond my imagination. i always could count on getting lost with their beautiful fabrics.
not there
not a good sign
we found them not too far away and they had a great sign advertising their new location. i was hopeful.
not good
the once wonderful fabric store with the most incredible, imaginative, and unusual was gone. it was a warehouse with nothing but the end of bolts. a store where i could get lost in imagination for my own clothes was nothing. a store that once had two floors of fabrics was reduced to less than one third the space.
i cannot help but reflect that this is the way of most of the quality stores - they are disappearing. all of the fabric stores i have been to in the last few weeks no longer have the range or quality. †here was a time when i made my own clothes, the fabrics were excellent and different. i could be assured that that what i made for myself would last forever.
oh well

economic wisdom

from the PIGazzette

PIGish Wisdom
Just imagine... If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you would have $49.00 today!

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you would have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago, you would have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you would have received $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg plan.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon!

Makes you damned proud to be an American!

road trip *laughing* three

">part one

">part two

road song two

damn i forgot how much fun that song is!

road song one

">born to be wild

why arent you married, dearie?

well after years and years of trying to come up with stupid answers to this stupid question, because i sure didnt know, i now have the answer
it is because i met too many men like this during my "marriagable" years dear woman
in my 20s i was the liberal free living artist.. content to just be me and fiddle-le-dee. men like this in my world then permeated the 'scene'. i couldnt stand them, and never gave a fig to find out why.
by the time i came to my senses, the 'new' men i would consider were no where to be found.. they were married and happily building strong families. widowers and divorced men were just not there. single men non existitent.
so i just carried on ...

ok so now we have seen the namby pamby men.. what about the women these guys are married to....
i bet she wears a hippy head band and has long stringy hair
am so glad i was never one of those.. nor even on my way

i dont need the rape apologies from dead men who didnt commit the crime on me, i dont need you to understand my vagina, i have never blamed a man for any of MY shortcomings, i have never lead a man on or teased, i have never treated a man with contempt.

UPDATE: apparently i have cooties!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." - C.S. Lewis.

and that is my rant for the night ;)

no riots in maryland

could it be because the governor is a dumbocrat?

oh good grief

now i have a list of chemicals i have to avoid - which are found in most personal & household products, most of which are in such tiny print i now carry a magnifying glass with me in order to read them - my excema is waning. good news
but then i go and trip over my own feet and now i have a separated ac joint and of course it was the right shoulder. i was on pain meds for four days and for the last three have suffered through trying to type at work. another reason i have not been online. i cannot take anti imflammatories for i am allergic to aspirin. i think with gentle care i will get through this.
damn it's hell getting old but at least i am not spilling castup
