after all these years, this lovely loving couple are married. i wish them the best.
i will not compare them to his parents marriage for it is vastly different. william is self assured, and the same with Catherine. after an 8 year courtship she has faced the worst of the worst and always held her dignity. i wish them all the happiness in the world.

what has fascinated me, however are all the comments on various websites. the brits are somewhat evenly divided.. however they dont like pay the taxes for it.. cant blame them, but Catherine and Williams parents are paying for most of it.. i guess the security is coming from the taxpayers. oh well.
but what i have noticed on the american side, the men, generally (generally but not all i am sure) are rather hostile - while the american women are fascinated. i am not surprised by the women's reactions, after all women are more sentimental, but i am surprised by the absolute hostility by the men.
reasons being - we fought to get rid of a monarchy (ok that was 200 years ago), we saved your brit asses in two world wars (hasnt that made us a closer ally)
anyway, i am happy for the new duke and duchess of cambridge. notice she is an HRH but not a princess.

Oh boyoboyo boy!
The American Revolution was fought for many things, but to "rid" North America of monarchy could only be described as the most ancillary of consequences (as opposed to motives)

Saving "brit" donkeys in Two World Wars? Arriving late to deliver a king hit, after the "brit" has worn the enemy down may count for something I suppose.

With regard to World War Two in particular:
Please name the American units that fought in the Battle of Britain.

You're trying to to correct the received wisdom, and that cannot be done.
An example would be how the male Republicans had make special efforts to reaffirm for the public's benefit, their unalterable disdain for the monarchy and its tawdry spectacles. I am quite amused by their protestations.

Cheers
